Counseling

Counseling provides an in-depth assessment of your personal circumstances so that you have a realistic understanding of your options.  Where appropriate, your counselor will guide you in gathering all of the paperwork required by your lender and putting together a complete packet so you can apply for a workout.  Depending on your wishes and circumstances, your counselor will assist you in preparing for mediation, intervene with the lender on your behalf, or provide other guidance that can help you reach your goals.

How to enter counseling:

  1. Call AHC’s Foreclosure Prevention Services Office at 847-796-8050 to schedule an appointment.
  2. View the presentation, “Preparing a Loan Workout Packet Video,” (17 minutes) OR attend a Foreclosure Prevention Education Class which explains how to complete and submit the paperwork that the lenders require in order to consider you for any option to resolve your case. We recommend that you watch this video in its entirety first to better understand all the different documents you will need and how they interact with each other, and then return to the video later if you need to refresh your memory as you begin collecting all the required documents and filling out different forms.
  3. Begin preparing your intake packet (English | Spanish). You must submit a completed intake packet at least 3 days prior to your scheduled counseling session.  You will be informed if any items are missing.  Such items must be turned in prior to your counseling session or your appointment will be rescheduled.
